| Description: Update 5/5/07: Come see the project - we couldn't wait to start it so we did. Chassis is all done, radiator cleaned and restored, and wheels painted. In a couple of weeks the engine will be back in and we will start adding the body metal and wood. Still plenty of time to strike a great deal and finish as you see fit.
A Rare find, indeed! We visited a barn in rural Maine recently and low and behold! A couple of old Fords tucked away forever! Heck, we could not see them at first until we moved a pile of stuff away from them. And here we have this rare Model TT one ton chassis, serving in its previous life as a mail truck in New Vineyard, Maine! (Engine block number tells us it's a 1920!) It is pretty much all there just the way the Ford factory would sell you a chassis in the old days - and then YOU decide what you wanted for a body - Stake? Hay? Fruit? Mail? Fire Truck? whatever - the possibilities are endless. We are going to stick this one in our building and play around with it as time goes on so that is why you do not see a price posted. The engine is complete and is free. The radiator looks good and there is a decent radiator cover. There are many sources of parts for Model Ts and everything you would need to get this old truck back on the road can be found in just one or two of the current suppliers' catalogues. The price will change as we begin to work on it - however, if you come in today (January 2007) you might get a fantastic buy on this interesting old Model TT one ton chassis! |
